I was searching on Google.com today and there was a new "Google Doodle." (You know, I really love these because they are so creative and fun.)
Today, August 22nd, 2013, the doodle was featuring one of my favorite classical artists, Claude Debussy! The doodle is so rhythmic, warming, and beautiful. <3 Plus, it features one of Debussy's greatest songs, Clair de Lune. Beautiful song and doodle indeed. (I especially loved how the lights in the background match the song.)
For those who missed out on it....
Now I will almost always remember Debussy's birthday. I hope you do too.

I have been listening to Vocaloid a lot this week because... well, I'm just tired of the same old songs being played.
I know some people don't like the fact that people (like myself) listen to computer voices. I always thought that Vocaloid isn't bad but I shouldn't get too used to it but then I saw at two amazing comments:
we have computers that sound halfway human, we have humans that sound halfway computer in the end there is no difference in what they sound like
personally, I have more respect for the human-sounding computers since it is much harder to do
They are right. :) There's music that's autotuned and music created by computers.
You have no idea how much I hate autotune. It takes away the human's true voice. Even if the singer is bad, it's better for them to learn to sing better than to use computers to alternate their voice. With auto-tune, it makes the human sound "halfway computer."
Vocaloids are computers that generate human-like voices. It's not a real voice but it's close to one. Sure, it might be wrong to use computers to create human-like voices, but which is more wrong? Using computers to create human voices or using computers to change human voices?
I personally feel that changing the human voice is worse than creating human voice. Why? Well, if you generate, then it gives it a more electronic sound (which is okay because it is a voice of a computer program) but if you alternate it, you are making a real human voice sound electronic, which makes it less natural.
I've also started to love Vocaloid because the songs are so much better than the pop songs now. Sure, with Vocaloid it's in Japanese but the message/lyrics are so much better than current pop songs. If you read the translation for most of the songs, then you'll see that the songs mean so much more than partying. Plus, the songs are a lot more creative with their messages.
Rolling Girl: One of the best Vocaloid songs
I mean, Miley Cyrus's "We Can't Stop" is on the top of the charts recently. What is it all about? Partying and doing drugs. I mean, many popular songs are negative influences. (I'm not saying all are.) Then there's Vocaloid, with many songs about suffering and getting back up. They are also about life and how you should enjoy it.
I dunno. I guess there's some things about pop music and Vocaloid that I like and dislike. I really wish haters would at least consider Vocaloid with pop music before opening their mouths. If you listen to some of the Vocaloid songs carefully, you might feel that it's better than normal pop music.
I've always been a fan of Acapella music. I don't listen to it everyday but I still enjoy listening to it. I've been listening more to Accapella since I found an awesome group.
The group's name is Pentatonix. If some of you have watched 'The Sing-Off," then you probably know this group already. If you aren't a big fan of acappella, they will probably change your mind about it. They are just 5 people singing their hearts out to some of the best songs ever.
Ever since they won "The Sing-Off," Pentatonix has become more and more popular. They've also released albums and done tours! Don't believe how awesome they are? Well, why don't you check it out yourself?(Do not worry. They cleaned up the song quite a bit.)
Their version of Thrift Shop is awesome and their "outfits" totally match the song's theme.
This next one is one of my all time favorites:
Totally beautiful and powerful. I also love the message of the song by mashing the two songs. It really brings hope to the world...
This next video doesn't only show the revolution of music but the brilliance of it.
I love the transitions they do for this song. It all fits int so perfectly and there were at least 30 songs in that video that it's amazing. Again, this is brilliant.
My favorite collaboration video to one of my favorite songs:
The scenery they filmed in and the costumes are great. So steam punk. :3
Another cover of Nicki Minaj's "Starships"...
To be honest, this music video makes more sense than the original... Without the hidden meaning, of course.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pentatonix has 5 members. Lead singers Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi; bass singer Avi Kaplan; and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola. Together, they perform arrangements of some of music's most popular songs.
So before Pentatonix became a huge sensation, they had to go through a competition to be the best. That competition is known as "The Sing-Off." The five sang week after week They beat the competition and impressed the judges. This is one of their best performance:
After they won, they got the money and started their own EP. Then their popularity grew. They released their album, went on tours, and captured the hearts of many.
I am a HUGE fan of Pentatonix and I hope you like them too!
I love the violin... And there are just some violinists that I love.
Lindsey Sterling is one of my favorites. She is another huge music inspiration for me. I first remembered her from America's Got Talent. Her first live performance was horrible. (I'm sorry.) I think that she was eliminated because the violin was with the actual voice singer and everything. IF she played with background music only, it would have been perfectly fine.
But since those few years, Lindsey has become a HUGE internet sensation. She currently has 43 videos on her channel but she has tons of other songs. She takes the violin to a whole new level... Like taking it to DUBSTEP! Here's my favorite:
It's an original violin dubstep called, Crystallize. I first heard this song during Science. My teacher likes to put techno music on while we work and this song happened to play. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. ♥ I'm not usually a big fan of dubstep but I think the concept of a classical instrument being put with dubstep background music is great. =)
Here are some other songs I like:
Very upbeat and lively. This original song is just beautiful! Plus, her hip-hop dancing adds a twist to it.
This next one is one of my absolute favorite medleys:
The Phantom of the Opera has been one of my movies/plays so far and I love their music... This medley brings back so many memories! I think video is amazing and it is just like the actual Phantom of the Opera. Way to go!
Next song is a collaboration song for Nicki Minaj's song, Starships:
I think this was a pretty good cover song. I'd rather listen to this than the original... for sure.
Next song is another original violin dubstep:
The music is beautiful. You can really feel different elements being played. This video is one of my favorites because she's "playing with the elements." All the scenery and outfit match the element she's playing. For example, the white breezy dress in an empty land.
Next song is one of my favorite covers:
Thrift Shop by Malcromore has been quite popular recently and I've come to like it. This version was pretty cool... especially with the violin solo. I guess anything can be played with the violin!
This last song is a collaboration with The Piano Guys (which I talked about here):
I love Mission: Impossible and this video and song collaboration was amazing! What can I say? It's three great musicians coming together to perform!
Those were just a few of my favorite songs. You can always check out more of Lindsey's songs on YouTube with more scenery, amazing violin playing, and crazy hip-hop moves.
There are so many musicians on YouTube... it's amazing! Lindsey has inspired me a lot and I hope she inspired you too!
P.S. Please support Lindsey by buying her album and songs on iTunes, subscribing to her on YouTube, following her on Facebook/Twitter, and maybe even check out her tour!
*All videos belong to Lindsey Sterling. This post was to share the love of amazing music.
But I am nothing compared to The Piano Guys. After listening and watching them play, I found a bigger inspiration in music. These guys are PROS at what they do. Some even call them the 21st Century Mozart.
They currently have 36 videos on their YouTube channel and released an album on Oct. 2nd. They take classical/instrumental music to a whole new level! (Note: They are considered the genre of Pop.) Anyways, shall I show you a video first?
Wasn't is beautiful? In case you didn't know, it was Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years." ♪I could love your for a thousand years...♫ Let me tell you a bit about them. There are 5 guys and they live in St. George, Utah: a piano store owner/videographer (Paul Anderson), a music producer (Al van der Beek), a videographer/editor (Tel Stewart), a pianist (Jon Schmidt), and a cellist (Steven Sharp Nelson). They all want to inspire the world with their talents, which they do.
Anyways. Enough of my talk. Why don't I show you a few more videos?
This, was super cool. It's One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" and they create everything with just one piano and 5 guys! I thought it was super cool how they used the entire piano... Although I would never dare to do that with my grand piano. This next song totally reminded me of a few special friends...
Hilarious music video but great music. I truly love Pachelbel's Canon in D but Steve totally mixed it up! I can't choose one version though... For this next song, let's just say, watch out Star Wars Fans!
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but the music + video, was really awesome. There's so much creativity going on, I love it! Darth Vader... can play a mean accordion! This next (and last one) brings back so many childhood memories!
I love Charlie Brown and so do the elders. Gotta say that these guys know how to rock it out!
After 5 videos, I hope you all are liking The Piano Guys. If not... I can't really do anything about it. Of course, you can always listen to The Piano Guys more on Youtube and check out their other amazing videos with hilarious stories, beautiful scenic, and glorious music!
I will keep practicing piano so someday, I can be some-what as good as them... or at least until I can play that skillfully.
Well, keep rocking on, everyone!
♥Petpet
P.S. Please support them by subscribing on YouTube, following on Facebook & Twitter, buying their products, and buying their new album on iTunes! (I just need one more dollar!...)
Okay. This is totally random but I just wanted to share a song that I love and inspires me. Some of you anime fans probably have probably heard this song before. It's called Crow Song and ever since I heard it, I love it.
It's from the anime, Angel Beats, and it's in Japanese (go figure) but the meaning behind those lyrics are amazing!Here's the English literal translation:
There's a wall of shutters behind me. My fingertips smell like steel. Move ahead! Strum those strings! It's crowded, at any rate. Find a way from here. You'll find what you're looking for. Let's rock out and play on. Gaze into the distance Inside this city where you can't even take a breather.
The starry sky is the best stage of them all. The crows cry out, "Caw, caw," above me. I'm always thinking of them. I wonder when they'll go to sleep. Find a way - I will too, In a song for me to sing out. Rock out and let it echo. With the crows, I'll sing out.
How long will I exist in this place? I feel like there were people who once said that. If you're only going to say annoying things, Let the jet black wings carry you away and just disappear.
With all my power, I'm about to collapse. My fingers are worn out and in pain, But, still, I'll perform. Tonight will be a big story. Find a way from here. You'll find what you're looking for. Let's rock out and play on. I'll take my luck and sing it out.
No matter how long, I'll exist here Within all the people who pass through. On this stage enclosed in the darkness, I sing my poem of hope right now. Even you must also be tired. I want to send this to that back of yours - From within the pitch darkness, The song of light that gleams with hope... Yes, that song... -Crow Song by Girls Dead Monster
As you can tell, it's really poetic but, it means a lot, especially to a musician. Just remember to keep moving on and fly on! ♥
Have you heard...? It's time to.... GANGNAM STYLE!
Event the pony is doing it! What are you waiting for!... Oh wait, I didn't tell you how to do it. First, I'll tell you more about it first.
Gangnam Style music video was released on July 15th, 2012, and it is the #1 Video on Youtube. (It currently has +303,000,000 views and still counting!) It has surpassed Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe music video in less than 3 months! The song is by a Korean artist named PSY (pronounced "Sigh") and after a 2 year break, he's back at the top! Well, since he's Korean, this song is K-Pop but it is one of the best I've ever heard.
Check out the video yourself! Warning! It is not appropriate for kids! (PG-13)
It's a pretty awkward and funny video... but those dance moves are sweet. Gangnam Style is over SWAG now. Okay, so now it's time to do it... Pretty simple really:
