51 Ways to Lose Your Eye (Dumb Ways to Die Parody)

Dear reader,
You are probably questioning me about the title of this post... Yes, I am aware that this is a teenage blog and yes, I know this is completely random. Just bare with me.

So, last semester, I had the weirdest conversations in Peer Leadership (still do, in fact.) One of our conversations were... ways to lose an eye. It was just random and funny at first but then things got serious when I started writing them down.

Just to let you know, this was a group effort but Chito (a friend/acquaintance) thought up most of these... So majority of these ideas belong to him. So first, I'm going to show you the parody lyrics to "Dumb Ways to Die" and then the list with my comments.

Please note: The list and song is just for fun. We are NOT encouraging you to do these stupid things. Petpet's Room/Speedy Wing's Hideout is not responsible for any damage or eye losses.

Dumb Ways to Die by Tangerine Kitty

Ways to Lose Your Eye
Parody lyrics arrangement by Petpet Wing
Use a pen while you draw
Take a sip and miss the straw
Comb out your hair
Dig into a snake's lair

Ways to lose your eye, so many ways to lose your eye, ways to lose your eye-i-i-ie. So many ways to lose your eye.

Eat some food with a fork
Stand in front of some fireworks
Spray some mouth freshener
Let your friend poke you with their finger

Ways to lose your eye, so many ways to lose your eye, ways to lose your eye-i-i-ie. So many ways to lose your eye.

Superglue your eye until it's shut
Giving yourself a buzz cut
Play with a little spring
Hitting a light pole until it goes "ding."

Ways to lose your eye, so many ways to lose your eye, ways to lose your eye-i-i-ie. So many ways to lose your eye.

Pull up a sleeping bag and miss the zipper
Watch a fish slap you with its flipper
Have a blind operation
Put up a frame and it drops on your face
Get your eyebrow pierced
They may not rhyme but they’re quite possibly

Ways to lose your eye
Ways to lose your eye
Ways to lose your eye-i-i-ie
So many ways
Sos many ways to lose your eye

"Don't be stupid. A message from Protecting Smart"

Poptropica: Bye bye, Poptropolis!

You've seen it and you've heard it. The Poptropolis Games disappeared on January 24, 2013. The biggest question is... why? Earlier last month, there have been signs of seismic activities. Then, last week, there was water covering the island. Finally, the island sank back into the ocean.

I've seen many many people arguing and saying that the Creators are removing the island because they don't have enough money or because they are cruel.

In my perspective, it was planned all this time. In the island tour, they stated that the island rises every 100 years for a competition. When an island rises, it's gotta sink back, right?! If not, we would've discovered it years ago! An island that rose out of the ocean, cannot just stay there after so many centuries of sinking and rising.

It's also a nice twist to Poptropica. There are tons of islands being added each year and they've always been available. This just makes it so that it's kinda a "limited time" island. Makes me kinda want to visit Poptropica more often too.

Now, don't get me wrong. I really am sad about Poptropolis being gone and no longer being about to compete but... this is supposed to happen and I can't do anything to stop it. At least we have the spirit of the tribes!!

When will the island rise again? Probably not 100 human years. Maybe in four years when the next summer Olympics come? Or maybe even in two years? Either way, when it rises, the tribes shall conquer once again! And maybe for a special treat, the Captain can give tips on how to beat the games? (Speaking of the Captain... I wonder where he's been.)

So, don't blame the Creators for taking away such a great island. IT SHALL RISE AGAIN!

Attack of the Chicken Wing!!

I didn't think this day would come... In a lab full of scientists in training, I hear a shriek... a look of disgust... Discovery. My gloves were slipping. It was getting tougher. There wasn't much time left...

And then all of the sudden...
IT attacked.
----------------------

Okay, maybe it didn't happen like that but it was my highlight of the day. Today, in Biology, I dissected something for the first time.

To be honest, it was cool but weird. We were learning about skins in Biology and what it does. Well, to really understand the layers and parts of the skin, we "dissected" a raw chicken wing. We first cut tear a hole into the chicken wing (the skin's tough and the scissors are small). Then we had to take the skin off. It was torture!

Usually, a cooked piece of chicken skin is easy to peel off but raw ones, they are almost impossible. Why? The fat cells are really attached to the muscles (we could barely get the fatty part of the skin off.) Another thing that makes it worst is that we couldn't cut up the muscle and tendon because we are going to use the chicken again for another dissection. It was kinda frustrating but at the same time, it was really fun. It's kinda cool to see everything in the skin... even though it's a little weird.

"That is a nice blood vessel."

Now about the attack... It didn't really attack me or my lab partner but it almost dropped onto the floor and table a few times. So in a way, it was trying to "attack" the floor, right? (Whoops!)

Anyways, that was my wonderful time in Biology. Pretty soon, we are going to be dissecting frogs... Chicken wings, I can do. Frogs... I'm not sure. O_O

I should probably get working on my final draft of my policy paper that's due tomorrow. (Guess who will be staying up late tonight?!)

Poptropica: The Games are Sinking?!

You've probably already heard it... But Poptropolis Games is sinking.

In May 2012, the Poptropicans discovered this mysterious island. It was said that this mysterious island was where the ancient capital was. Each hundred years, the island rises from the sea and holds a tribal competition.

A few weeks ago, I visited Poptropolis Games to check out how the current competitors were doing. (Read about it here.) The only occurrence was the seismic activity which threw off the competitors' balance. Now, water is rising along with shaking.

I interviewed an enthusiastic competitor in hopes of winning for the Nanobots:
Wing: The Poptropolis Games are beginning to sink. How do you feel about it?
Nanobots Representative: Disappointed, more than anything. I've always wanted to compete in the games and here's my chance! I really want to represent the Nanobots well but I've never practiced with random shaking.
Wing: Is this random shaking making things more difficult?
Nanobots Representative: Yes. It is extremely dangerous too. It's only occurred once but one of the competitors last week messed up during his turn at archery. He completely missed the target an almost hit a spectator because of the shaking.
Wing: Yikes. That sounds horrible. What about the water rising?
Nanobots Representative: I don't have too much of a problem with that but things are definitely more muddy. At least I can still compete!
Wing: In a few weeks, Poptropolis Games will completely sink. Your thoughts?
Nanobots Representative: Well, I'm not really sure. I know I will get to compete so at least I will get the experience... but others can't compete until another 100 years! I feel kinda bad that is can't stay any longer but it's supposed to happen, right?
Wing: I guess so. Well, before this interview ends, any last thoughts?
Nanobots Representative: I'll do my best to win this for the Nanobots, no matter what!
So, I guess even with the island sinking, there is still a chance at competing for your tribe. The water level is slowly rising though, so you better go compete now if you haven't!

It's an experience you'll never forget... I was glad to represent the Seraphims...

Your sad victor,
~Speedy Wing~

I did it!

I survived another semester of school!

And, I manged to get high honor roll, once again. It was a close one.
I'm just glad it's done with Fitness for Life! No more push-ups, PACER Tests, and all that those worksheets.
My second semester schedule:
  • Art 2
  • Computer Tech
  • Language Arts 9 Honors
  • Spanish 2
  • Secondary Math 1 Honors
  • Geography
  • Biology
  • Peer Leadership/Student Govnerment
My schedule basically stayed the same. The only thing that really changed was 1st and 2nd period. (Although I still have the same exact teacher for 1st period.)

For all of our hard work, we get a 5 day weekend!

So far, all I've done was go on Pinterest, Blog, PSF, Club Penguin, and play Kingdom of Hearts: Recoded for about 6-7 hours. (I swear, I haven't played my Nintendo D.S. this much forever.)
Anyways, I probably should start working on my homework. (Yes, I have homework over break... but it is my fault for procrastinating.) Until next time!

I am Merida!

...Okay. Maybe not.

But compared to how fast I learned archery, I feel like Merida (from the movie Brave). As you might know from my previous post (Click here to view it), I have never touched a bow until last week. My first try, was a miserable fail.

Well, today, I actually got another 2 chances to shoot! What happened?

I. Kicked. Butt.

It's true though. 2013 was the first time I touched a bow and after a second try at shooting, I didn't miss the target (and the arrows didn't ricochet off the target). Out of 10 shots, this is how well I did (I couldn't take a picture of it since I was in school):
Pretty impressive, huh? I ALMOST had a straight bulls-eye! I'm so glad I had another class to do archery before the semester ended because I had to prove myself that I COULD do archery and become good at it.

Sure, I can't quite splinter other arrows nor shoot a squirrel straight through the eye, but, I improved BIG TIME. That is what counts the most.

 I could have signed up for the school archery competition, but it's too late now. Oh well, at least know I am not a failure at archery!
How I felt like today.
On another side note, this week is the last week of the semester! I actually had a really good Monday (super rare.) I don't know what it is but I just couldn't help laughing all day. There were just some things that made me smile and I was just so... cheery.

I think lack of sleep is getting to me... (I get really crazy when I don't have enough sleep.) At least I have a five-day weekend.

Animes, Watch or Not? Part 1

As most of you know, I watch a lot of animes. But, it's always hard to decide which Animes to watch when there's such a huge selection. So, Animes, Watch or Not? is to help anime lovers decide what to watch!
(Please note, these Animes are in no particular order of rankings. They are just in the order that I watched each of them.)

Warning: Quick Q&A's may hint or contain a few spoilers.

SailorMoon (Pretty Soldier SailorMoon)
Based off of the manga, SailorMoon by Naoko Takeuchi.
Usagi(Serena) Tsukino is an ordinary 14-year-old girl, or so she thinks. One day, she discovers a talking cat named Luna, who reveals Usagi's true identity. Usagi(Serena) is "Sailor Moon", a special warrior with the destiny of saving the planet Earth, and later the entire galaxy. Usagi must now find the Moon Princess and protect Earth from a series of antagonists, beginning with the Dark Kingdom that had appeared once before, long ago, and destroyed the Kingdom of the Moon.
--Wikipedia
There are 5 seasons in total and each season connects to the next:
  1. Sailor Moon
  2. Sailor Moon R
  3. Sailor Moon S
  4. Sailor Moon SuperS
  5. Sailor Stars
In each season, they have new enemies, powers, and even meet some new allies. My favorite season would have to be 3 or 4 because they have my favorite characters. :3

My all-time characters:
Sailor Pluto because of her matureness; Sailor Saturn because of her awesomeness; Sailor Neptune because she's so talented; Sailor Uranus because she's just so amazing; and Pegusas because... it's a pegusas.

Quick Q&A:
Which Sailor Senshi do you think you fit the most?

Sailor Mercury because she's the smartest/nerdy one and I feel like I fit her the most... Always trying to get good grades. =P
Who's power would you like the most?
Sailor Pluto! She has an amazing staff/rod and I just love her attack. Plus, she messes with time a bit which is pretty sweet.
First Opening Theme Song:
English Version:

Japanese Version:

Best for those that like: Action, "Magical Girl", romance, adventure, drama, comedy, fantasy, and Shoujo*

Side note for viewers: Some of the villains' clothing is not very appropriate for all ages!

I honestly love this and will never forget this. (This was the first anime I've ever watched.) The story line is unpredictable and it teaches some vauable lessons in life... Like friendship, love, and trust. There are parts that I've cried because it was just THAT beautiful.

This anime is English subbed and dubbed.

Shugo Chara!
Which means "Guardian Character" in English. It is based off the manga Shugo Chara! by Peach-Pit.
The heroine of the story Amu Hinamori, is a student at Seiyo Elementary. At first glance, her classmates refer to her as "cool and spicy" and rumors speculate about her personal life. However, her real personality is that of a very shy girl who has trouble showing her true personality. One night, Amu wishes for the courage to show her "would-be" self, and the next morning finds three brightly colored eggs — red, blue, and green — in her bed. These eggs hatch into three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su. The Guardian Characters aid Amu in discovering who she truly is and help fulfill Amu's dreams. Amu's life becomes much more complex as she struggles to deal with her "would-be" selves and the Seiyo Elementary's Guardians, who each have a Guardian Character of their own. Later on, they recruit Amu as the "Joker" to search for X Eggs and X Characters, the corrupted forms of people's dreams, so the Guardians can purify their dreams.
--Wikipedia
There are 3 seasons:
  1. Shugo Chara!
  2. Shugo Chara!! Doki
  3. Shugo Chara! Party!
 My favorite season would have to be season 1 or 2... because that's when the action really got exciting. xD Shugo Chara Party just wasn't that great in my opinion. (Doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it though.)

My all-time favorite characters: Nadeshiko because she's so elegant; Rima because she's so cute and spunky; Amu because she's just like me...; Ikuto because he's a beautiful person; and Utau because her voice is beautiful.

 Favorite Shugo Chara: Kusukusu because she loves to laugh! =D
Quick Q&A:
What was your favorite song in Shugo Chara?
Meikyuu Butterfly! The song is so powerful and I just love the sound & lyrics.
If you could have your own "Guardian Character," what would it be?
I've always wanted to be more confident in music and better at it... So it's probably be a confident musician. Her name would probably be Melody.
First Opening Theme Song:

Best for those that like: Action, comedy, "magical girl", drama, romance, fantasy, school life, and Shoujo*

Shugo Chara really got me onto the path of being an Otaku (anime/manga lover). I just love the story of it and the message it sends. The characters are all unique in their own ways and it shows how important one's dream is.

This anime is English subbed.

Skip Beat!
Based off of the manga Skip Beat! by Yoshiki Nakamura

Kyoko Mogami, a 16-year-old girl, discovers that her childhood friend and romantic goal, Sho Fuwa, only keeps her around to act as a maid and earn his living expenses, as he works his way to become the top pop idol in Japan. Furious and heart broken from not liking her, she vows to get revenge by beating him in show business. Kyoko changes her appearance and enters the entertainment industry, facing many challenges along the way. She journeys to climb the showbiz ladder as she meets interesting people, troublemakers and friends alike, with hopes of getting revenge on Shotaro, as well as regaining the sense of compassion that she had lost when her heart was broken by him.
--Wikipedia
There is only one season for this anime.

My all time favorite characters:
Kanae because she is so cold and her acting is amazing; Kyoko because her ability to act is outstanding and she's just so funny/childish; Ren because he's so professional and he's so... special. (I can't give spoilers.)

Quick Q&A:
Do you think Sho deserves a second chance?

After the way Kyoko has been treated, no way! Kyoko deserves someone much better plus, Sho is just a player. (In my opinion)

Could you ever go into Showbiz?
Probably not. It's a lot of work and my acting isn't the best. I barely have the confidence to stand in front of a huge crowd! >.<
First Opening Theme Song:

Best for those that like: Showbiz, romance, comedy, drama, and Shoujo*

This was one of the most intriguing animes I've ever watched. The story it's self is great and it was so suspenseful. It's also different type of anime style than I normally watch.

This anime is English subbed.

La Corda d'Oro
This is based off of the game and manga, La Corda d'Oro.

Kahoko Hino is a student in the General Education section of Seiso Academy. One day she runs into Lili, a musical fairy, who grants her a magical violin and a place in the school's annual musical competition. Kahoko refuses, only to be pressed on by Lili until she accepts the instrument and place in the competition. As she practices, Kahoko is amazed that she can play any musical piece as long as she knows the tune and plays it with her heart. As the competition goes on, she becomes more and more attached to the people she is trying to compete with.
--Wikipedia
There is two seasons:
  1. La Corda d'Oro: ~Primo Passo~
  2. La Corda d'Oro: ~Secondo Passo~
I like both of the seasons but I wish ~Secondo Passo~ had more than just 2 episodes.

My all time favorite characters:
Nami because she's just like me, a reporter!; Kahoko because she's so beautiful and she inspires so many people; Len because he's so amazing at playing the violin and music is something huge for him.

Quick Q&A:
If you were Kahoko, who would you choose as your best guy friend?

Ryotaro Tsuchira. He plays the piano but he's also a soccer player. Any guy that's athletic and has a passion for music is my type! He's also got a really good heart.
Would you ever enter in a competition?
Probably not. I'm good at piano but I'm not that highly skilled. I'd rather just be Nami and report everything.
Opening Theme Song:

Best for those that like: Romance, Classical Music, fantasy, school life, and Shoujo*

I've always been a huge classical music fan but when combined with anime, it makes me love classical music even more. I love the graphics and the story of this anime so much and the music played is just exquisite.

This anime is English subbed.

Neo Angelique ~Abyss~
Based off of the Neo Angelique game.
The story takes place in a fictional world called Arcadia, where life-draining monsters called Thanatos plague the populace. The only ones who have the power to exterminate these creatures are Purifiers, but only a few exist. One day, Angelique, who is just a presumably normal girl attending school, is visited by Nyx, a rich gentleman as well as a Purifier, who created an organization of Purifiers dedicated to exterminating Thanatos. Nyx is interested in the potential power she possesses and invites her to join his organization, but she refuses since she wants to become a doctor, like her father. However, when her school is later attacked by Thanatos, she ends up activating her powers in her wanting to protect those in danger. After purifying the creature, she finds out she has a unique purifying power, and that she is the one that has been foretold in legends, the "Queen's Egg". It is then that her journey begins, and she becomes the only female Purifier in the world.
--Wikipedia
There are two seasons:

  1. Neo Angelique ~Abyss~
  2. Neo Angelique ~Abyss~ -Second Age-

My all-time favorite characters:
Rayne (Rein/Lien) because he's smart, cool, and is a great fighter; Angelique because she's so kind and reminds me of myself;  Ervin because he's such a sweet kitty. :3; Hyuuga the former Silver Knight because he's so loyal and strong (and I like any "knightly" figures).

Quick Q&A:
If you were to join Angelique, what power/weapon would you choose?
I love Angelique's purifying abilities but I would rather go old style and use a sword. It may take practice but, I would rather use a weapon than always relying on others and magic. Plus, swords are just one of the best weapons ever.
Who would you choose as our best guy friend if you were Angelique?
I would go with Jade. He's not exactly human but he's so kind and his main purpose is amazing. Most humans can't even think of a life purpose! His cheerful disposition is always great to have around.
Opening Theme Song:

Best for those that like: Fantasy, adventure, romance, drama, comedy, and Shoujo*

It's been a long time since I first watched this anime but it had a really good plot line. It takes a little while to figure out what's going on because it's in such a completely different setting but it was worth watching. The animation was amazing too.

This anime is English subbed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope this helped you decide what animes you should watch. If you have any suggestions, please let me know and I may try watching it!
♥Petpet, your Otaku** writer.
*Shoujo means "girl" in Japanese. When shoujo is referred to a genre, that means it's directed towards girls (but boys can always watch too!)
**Otaku describes someone that has a love for Japanese things. Usually Otakus refer to people who love anime/mangas.
My first class of archery
I finally got to touch a bow!
Mine was purple though.
For many people, they touch a bow when their younger but this Wednesday, I touched and used a bow for the first time! We are learning archery during school (for the last days of Fitness for Life) and it was pretty nerve racking. I also felt kinda bad since I've never been to scouts or camp. (That's where most people learned archery.)
We first had to take an exam on the "11 Steps to Archery" before even touching an equipment. It was super easy (plus the answers on the other side of the gym) and so were the whistle commands. I just failed miserably at shooting. xD
I was one of the last people in our group to shoot and I pretty much failed. The last step of archery is "Follow Through/Reflect." Well, here's my reflection:
  • I made one shot into the blue zone.
  • Two of my arrows bounced off the foam targets.
  • I missed the target entirely once.
  • I hit the foam but nowhere near the circle.
So in other words... I need a lot more work to do. But for being a beginner, this is good, right?
I just need to have confidence that I can pull it back all the way along with remembering to aim. (I kinda forgot that once. xD) Plus, it took me forever just to get the nock on. I really enjoy archery and everything but as of now, I AM A FAILURE AT ARCHERY! Yay for failing at something new! xD
Hopefully, I can become as great as these amazing archers. (They aren't all real but, they are my why I love archery!)
Of course, I was joking about failing. I am not giving up quite yet. It was just my first time so I can't expect to be perfect. (I just feel humiliated, that's all.) With a little more practice and confidence that something bad won't happen, then I'll be great!... I hope.
So, how was your first time at archery? Were you a failure like me? Comment to tell me!
♥Petpet, in hopes to be a better archer!
Project 365
My friend "Selena" posted this on her blog and I thought it would be a great idea to share!
Project 365 is a challenge to where you take at least 1 picture everyday for the year. "People often say that their year has flashed before their eyes." Project 365 allows you to remember what you did each day and what was so important that day.
For some people, this isn't a challenge at all! Now, you can take pictures of whatever you want but, it's more fun when you have some sort of theme or idea of what you are going to take a picture of. These have to be pictures you've taken yourself though!
Me? I'm planning to take pictures of whatever was the highlight of my day! (That might be tricky during school though...)
As long as you have a camera, you can do this! So keep your cameras, phones, iPod Touches, etc. with you everywhere you go because you'll never know if you need to snap a quick picture! (Screenshots count as a picture too, just saying.)
The Official Project 365 site allows people to post their own pictures to their site but I think it's just a lot easier for me to post my pictures here at Petpet's Room/Speedy Wing's Hideout.
Project 365: Photo #1
Today's photo is banana bread. I know it doesn't look that pretty (blame my mom xD) but this was the first time our family actually created the banana bread. It actually tasted pretty good for a first timer! We messed up a little bit here and there though. ^^;
So, are you up to the challenge?! If you are, post this on your personal blog and start snapping pictures! (Giving credit to people is always a good idea. ;-))
Look forward to more pictures of Project 365!
♥Petpet
Happy 2013!
It's 2013 now... Another year has passed!
Man, I have wasted so much of my time. xD Everything seems so long ago yet, time flies too fast.
Let me start off by reminiscing of what happened here:
Whew! That was quite a lot. I guess there were a few highlights here at Petpet's Room/Hideout after all!
There's so much that happens in one year, it's hard to sum it all up. I have to say though, the best few moments of the year was Gangnam Style reaching 1 billion views, the U.S. presidential election, and the "mission to Mars."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, when it's a new year, it's time for resolutions! I made some last year so let's see if I accomplished them!
Well, I have a couple of New Year Resolutions for school, home, and of my blog. First on the list, school. My resolutions are to keep my 4.0 GPA this year, do my schoolwork and important projects before instead of last minute, write in my planner more (I've been slacking lately), and pay attention more in class.
4.0 GPA? Check!
Schoolwork and projects before? Not really....
Write in my planner more? Er... Kinda?
Pay more attention in class. Pretty much... there were a few times though...
Overall:
For home, I want to be a better helper. Maybe help around the house more with taking out trash, sweeping the floor, vacuuming, and other chores. I could also keep my room clean (I'm clean but sometimes, I need to clean up a bit) and get along better with the family.
Eh. I kinda did that and slacked other times. So...

As for here, a resolution is to post way more.
Well, I posted more than I did in 2011! So...

Now, time for my new resolutions!
  • Live life
  • Keep up my grades
  • Be more social
  • Help out my parents more
  • Try to not come online when I have homework (this is gonna be a tricky one)
  • Improve my music skills
  • Post more
  • Make the world a better place
  • Try new things
  • Become a bigger Otaku
I'll probably forget these resolution in the next month... But, oh well! I can try this year.

Either way, even if it's a new year, it's still another day in life so keep living!

(Otaku moment: the saddest part this year was Sword Art Online ending! It was a beautiful anime...)
