America's Got Talent: Quarterfinals Part 3 Results

Wednesday, the 3rd results show aired. It was kinda intense and once again, 4 are closer to their dreams and 8 has come to an end. These are the ones that made it:
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.

Poplyfe

Lyn Agnes

Professor Splash
(I do not own these pictures! They are all from nbc.com)
I was pretty glad that these guys made it because I voted for them! :)

Special Guests
There were 3 specials guests this week. The third one was very unexpected.

The legendary Stevie Nicks came to America's Got Talent. She performed a new song from her album In Your Dreams. It was great for all fans. She also said that Michael Grim, last year's winner, would be going on tour with her! Then near the end of the show, Stevie Nicks performed again singing "Edge of Seventeen."

Stevie Nick's performance

The second guest was last season's sensation, Fighting Gravity. They performed one of their newest acts. I bet the judges were very glad to see them because I was! They would probably headlining a show in Broadway or Las Vegas soon.

Fighting Gravity's performance

The last guest was the Smurfs. They surprised everyone near the first 5 minutes of the show. Smurfette buzzed Sharon's buzzer which was what caused all the commotion. (Who knew that they could go on live?!) I guess it's a way to promote their new movie which is out right now! They also had a music trailer played near the end of the show.

Smurfs surprising the judges
This week's was full of danger, I can't wait to see next week's last quarterfinals!!

America's Got Talent: Quarterfinals Part 3

Last night, the thrid live show aired. Again, there were laughs, "X's", thrills, and chills. There was also more 'arguing' against Howie and Peirs and talking about the latest fashion. (You looked amazing Nick!!) These were the acts:
  • Summerwind Skippers
  • Sh'Boss Boys
  • Mauricio Herrera
  • Seth Garbel
  • Poplyfe*
  • Ian Johnson
  • Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.*
  • Purrfect Anglez
  • MonĂ©t
  • Captain and Maybelle
  • Lys Agnes*
  • Professor Splash*
* means I voted for them.

The acts were pretty good this week but there were still some "X's." Peirs wasn't as tough as last week and he finally got the point of Poplyfe and Summerwind Skippers. There were some disappointed contestants last night. Well it's all up to America to see who wins tonight.

Special guests for results show:
The legendary rock star, Stevie Nicks, is going to perform and my most favorite acts from last year, Fighting Gravity! I can't wait to see what's been happening with Fighting Gravity from last year!

Check back soon to see the results or tune in at 9/8 central on NBC!

Jump Ropes.... Using Rubber Bands?!

We use rubber bands all the time. For wrapping things, collecting, and sometimes even slingshots. Have you ever thought that rubber bands could make jump ropes?? Well it's true! You can.

I never thought that it was possible but it is! My parents taught me how to do this. When they were younger, they lived in Vietnam and they had to learn how make their own toys. One of the toys is the jump rope made of rubber bands. They just build a chain of rubber bands over and over to create a rope. It takes some time to get the technique down but it's really fun to do. Here's how they look:

12' Jump Rope and Rubber Band Jump Rope

8' Jump Rope and Rubber Band Jump Rope

It was really fun spending an hour making jump ropes. It's a lot of rubber bands to make it but it was fun. I made the rope on the right while my parents made the one on the left. As you can see, theirs was really long. It's more than 12 feet long!

To get that thick of a rope, we had to use 5 rubber bands for every loop. My rope contains about 440 rubber bands while the other one had about 500 rubber bands!! It's a lot of rubber bands. Probably more rubber bands than a rubber band ball.

If you want to know how to make a rubber band jump rope, comment below that you do and I might post how!

Book Review #2: Ingo

I have just finished reading Ingo by Helen Dunmore. This book talks a lot about the sea and it's an amazing story. It's about a girl name Sapphire. She has a wonderful family and everything is just how she wants it until one night, her father sailed off to the sea and just disappeared. After years, Sapphy and her brother, Conor, starts hearing the ocean call to them. It's like a pull of a magnet from the ocean. That's when she discovers the world of Ingo. This book is perfect for those that like adventure, fantasy, and sea life. Ingo is just the first book of  The Ingo Chronicles. This book is mostly recommended for ages 10 and up.

Here's the description:
By the Cornwall coast where Sapphire lives with her family, it's easy to hear the call of the sea. Too easy. When the sea called to Sapphy's father, he vanished from her life. When the sea called to her brother, he started disappearing for hours on end. And now the sea is calling to Sapphy, and she feels its pull more strongly than she's ever felt anything in her life. In a novel full of longing, mystery, and magic, Helen Dunmore takes us to a new world that has the power both to captivate and to destroy. At the waterline, the worlds of Air and Ingo meet. Sappy and her brother, Conor, find themselves at the boundary between these worlds, in a place of danger and amazing discoveries.

If you want to read the next book of the Ingo Chronicles, look for Tide Knot.

America's Got Talent: Quarterfinals Part 2

This week was the second Quarterfinals of America's Got Talent, season 6. There was more laughs, crying, and thrill this week but some acts, the judges weren't as pleased. The judge- Peirs Morgan- was using his buzzer like a bomb! An act suck, BOOM, there goes the bomb. Another one, BOOM, there's another. Anyways, these are the acts from Tuesday.

•Attack Dance Crew
•Dani Shay
•Dylan Andre
•Thomas John
•Steven Retchless*
•Dainel Joseph Baker*
•Geechy Guy
•Landon Swank
•Mona Lisa
•Sillhouettes*
•Smage Bros. Riding Shows*
•The Rhinestone Ropers

The ones with * mean they made it to the Semi-finals!

Unforgettable Moments
•During the show, they talked alot about how they looked. According to Peirs, Nick had an accident with his outfit by wearing purple.
•Peirs and Howie were playing around once again. While Peirs was complaining about an act, Howie took a little water gun and started squirting it at Peirs. It was hiarilous! Good prank Howie!!
•Dainel Joseph Baker has a new nickname now! It's the new Lady Guyguy.
•The Rhinestone Ropers brought in a horse. It was a really horrible act! Apparently, it made a couple of accidents while it was performing. Poor Nick had to clean it up once again...

Special guests
The first special guest was Hot Chelle Rae. They sang their newest single Tonight, Tonight. The second guest was an acrobatic act called Traces. They were pretty amazing!

This week was a pretty intense and disappointing. I was hoping that some of the acts were better but they weren't. Oh well. To see the full performances by clicking here.  To see the full results show, click here.

Book Review #1: Hawksmaid

From now on, I will do book reviews. This is the first one! I'll just talk about the book, author, and anything else related.

I just finished reading Hawksmaid by Kathryn Lasky. It was really interesting. It was pretty much a story of Robin Hood, the Merry Men, and Maid Marian. It starts off of how their childhood life then, as outlaws. Kathryn Lasky really made an interesting story of Robin Hood. This was a very interesting book. I would definitely recommend it for people that likes Robin Hood, hawks, and ages 10 and up.

Here's the description:
Matty has been raised to dance well, embroider exquisitely, and marry nobly. But when Matty's mother is murdered before her very eyes and her father, a nobleman, is reduced to poverty, Matty's life changes. As the daughter of Nottingham's most famous falconer, she finds a new destiny in the hawks her father keeps. She begins to understand their thoughts and even speak their language. the beautiful merlin Marigold becomes Matty's closest winged companion and her fiercest ally..... You thought that you knew the legend, but this is the untold story.

If you don't know who Kathryn Lasky is, she is the author of the  very popular series: Guardians of Ga'hoole. She does lots of research for her books. She would study the animals' behavior and how they act.

If you want me to write a book review on my blog, comment below!!

What the Fijit?!?

Today I was browsing around Poptropica and found this new ad called Fijit Friends. It's in all different islands and they talk about how they interact.
Here's how my interview would be like if I met the creator of Fijit Friends.

Speedy Wing in front Fijit ad

Me: What is a Fijit Friend??

Creator: A Fijit Friend is a type of robot that you can enteract with and is your best friend. They have over 150 phrases and can talk with you.

Me: How do they know what I'm talking about?

Creator: They have 30 keywords that they can sense and know what you're trying to say.

Me: I'm still not convinced on buying this...

Creator: They are very soft and squishy! And the best part is that they dance!

Me: Dancing robots??? Sounds like the new Poptropica island. I can't wait to see it! There's going to be trains and robot and alieans....

Creator: Back to Fijit Friends please.

Me: Oh sorry. I'm still not convinced. They sound weird too... How did you create this robot.

Creator: It's a secret missy! Now are you going to buy it or no??

Me: Nah. I'd rather keep my money for savings.

Creator: Oh fine. At least keep this free Fijit Friend for your Poptropican.

Me: Uh. Thanks..... (I really don't want this!!)

You can get this free Fijit Friend for your Poptropican by going to the adand click the poster above the bed. There's really not much to do there. You can click the video, see the webiste or customize an outfit. This ad was not a favorite but it was interesting to look around.

America's Got Talent: Quarterfinal Part 1 Results

On Tuesday, the first part of the quarterfianls started. There was thrills, chills, laughing, and crying. After the show, it was all up to America to vote who would go on.

Yesterday, they had a live results show. These are the ones that made it to the semi-finals:

Sandou Trio Russian Bar

Anna Graceman

Snap Boogie

Miami All-Stars

I was a little disappointed that the Fearless Flores Family didn't make it but I'm pretty happy about America's choice. The thing that I hated most about the result show is that when Piers found out that the Funny Little People didn't make it, he was so happy. Thanks a lot Piers!!

Anyways, during the result shows, they have special guests. Avril Lavigne performed first singing 'What the Hell' and 'Smile.' Then, a broadway musical performed. It's called Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. To me, it was quite confusing.

It was a great day for those 4 and a road at the end for 8.

A New Friend

Have you ever had a new person come and doing something amazing? Just like a thunderstorm coming in without a warning? That happened to me today. I was on Poptropica Secrets Forum do my business and I saw a thread that caught my eye. It was brand new and only 2 replies. I had to see this.

I read the thread on how the forum could be better. I was kinda mad that she just started and already talked about these things. But, she's keen about that. I read through the posts and saw that my friend had replied. Then the new girl started to talk about spamming. I was shocked on how she treated Strange Clown. I knew that she was going to be trouble. But her talking about the spamming made me feel guilty that I spammed a lot.

That's when the flame war started. She was talking about how she could help change the forum. There was a big arguement between me and her. It went on for hours (just about 3.) I was arguing so much that I didn't notice the time! After holding a grudge for 3 hours, I felt bad about what I did. She just stepped on my wrong foot, so that was probably what set me off.

She apolgized about all that happened. And so did I. We finally forgot about what happened. Now we are friends and I hope to get to know her more!!
This was a day I won't ever forget!

Special thanks to: Maygirl2 for letting me post this, my good friend Strange Clown for talking to me about the troubles, Funnygirl for helping me ease my nerves, and my little sis Shiny Sun for showing me that Maygirl2's not what I think.
